Cute Baby Ostrich Standing on Grassy Ground

A young ostrich stands in profile on a gently wavy line of ground, with its round head turned to look back toward us. The head is a big circle with two tiny dot eyes, a small angled beak, and a few little feather strokes sticking up on top. The long neck bends down into a speckled patch of small oval dashes, which meets a plump, rounded body. Layered feathers sit along the back and tail, and one wing is drawn with scalloped feather shapes. Two thin legs end in long toes. The big open areas on the body make this an easy page for little hands. Try coloring the body in soft browns and tans, then use a different shade for the dotted neck so the spots stand out. It also works well for talking about birds that run instead of fly.
