Little Bat Reading a Storybook in a Treehouse

Coloring guide
On a round wooden treehouse platform, a big-eared baby bat sits on a cushion and holds an open storybook with both feet and hands. One page shows a pine tree, and the other has snowy mountains with little stars. Next to the bat, a lantern with a flickering candle flame rests on the ledge. A round window behind shows a crescent moon, stars and puffy clouds. Leafy branches frame the top corner and bottom right, and a wooden ladder leads up to the platform. The bat has a friendly smile, tiny fangs and a curled tuft of hair. For a cozy bedtime look, try deep blue in the window with yellow stars and a glowing yellow-orange flame in the lantern. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start by coloring the big wooden areas, such as the walls, roof, treehouse platform, tree trunks and ladder, in wood brown, and use honey tan for the ladder rungs.
- 2Fill the bat's head, body, cheeks and feet with soft lavender, then color the inside of both big ears and the wing inners in soft pink.
- 3Paint the fluffy cushion bright orange and the round window's sky deep blue, leaving the little stars and the moon's glow for later.
- 4Color the moon lemon yellow and the window's hills forest green, then fill the storybook covers with deep blue and add slate blue mountains and forest green trees on the cover.
- 5Finish the lantern with bright red on its top and base and pale sky blue on its glass, then color the leaves leaf green and add a cream candle flame, leaving the bat's eye whites and the background white.
- 6Optional: Add a little shading by adding a slightly darker shade of the same color along one side of the bat body and the cushion for a softer look.
