Trio of Bats Hanging in a Cave

Coloring guide
Three little bats hang upside down from a rocky ceiling with their wings wrapped around them like cozy blankets. A large bat is in the center and a smaller one sits on each side. All three have big round eyes, pointy ears with leaf-like lines inside, fluffy chest fur, and a tiny crown of hair. Pointed stalactites hang from the top of the page, so the cave setting stays simple with no extra clutter. Young colorers get lots of room in the wing folds and around the little feet gripping the rock. Soft purples or warm browns work for the wings, and a lighter shade on the faces lets the big eyes stand out. Print this free page for quiet time or a nature unit on nocturnal animals. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the cave ceiling and all the stalactites hanging from it with light gray, leaving the open cave background white.
- 2Fill the wings of all three bats with dark slate gray, keeping the thin pale lines along the wing bones white as highlights.
- 3Color the faces, furry bodies and the brown stripe running along the big bat's wings with caramel brown.
- 4Fill the inside of the ears and the tiny nose of each bat with coral pink, then add the dark eyes and small hair tufts on top of the heads.
- 5Optional: Add a little darker gray to the edges of the wings and the ceiling for depth.
