Duckling Strolling Past a Pond and a Stray Golf Ball
Coloring guide
A smiling duckling with a little tuft of feathers on its head waddles along a grassy bank, one wing tucked in and webbed feet stepping forward. Behind it, a small flag stands in the hole on a round green, with bushes along the horizon. Cattails rise on both sides of the page, and a winding stream curves across the bottom. Two lily pads float on the water, and a dimpled golf ball sits in the ripples near the lower right. Grass tufts are scattered around. The duck's big round body and wing are easy for small hands to fill in. Yellow for the duckling with an orange beak and feet, soft blues for the stream, and fresh greens for the lily pads and putting green would suit it. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the duckling body, wings, and head in golden yellow, leaving the eye whites and eye highlights white.
- 2Color the beak and both webbed feet in orange, and fill the open mouth with coral pink.
- 3Fill the pond water and the water near the reeds in sky blue, keeping the golf ball and its ripples white.
- 4Color the grass, golf green, lily pads, and reeds in bright green, then add forest green to the bushes and darker reed leaves.
- 5Color the cattail heads in chocolate brown, the bank edge in tan brown, and the golf flag in bright red, leaving the thin cattail highlights white.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker yellow under the wings and a touch of extra green in the shadowy grass to add depth.
