Duckling Wizard in the Halloween Pumpkin Patch

Here a cheerful duckling strolls through a pumpkin patch wearing a pointed wizard hat with a crescent moon on it. It has a little cape fastened with a round button, a candle lantern in one wing and its mouth open in a happy quack. Pumpkins of every size sit around its webbed feet, along with tufts of grass and leafy vines. Further back, a smiling scarecrow in a patched shirt, neckerchief and floppy hat stands by a wooden fence, with bushes in the distance. The big shapes and clear outlines work well for preschoolers and early elementary kids, and you can print it free in about a minute. Deep purple would suit the hat and cape, with a sunny yellow moon, and the lantern flame can glow orange against the pumpkins. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the duckling's big yellow body, head, wings and belly in golden yellow, leaving the small cheek and chin areas for later.
- 2Color the wizard hat's tall cone and wide brim in royal purple, then fill the cape with deep violet.
- 3Paint the pumpkins, the duckling's beak and feet in pumpkin orange, and add chestnut brown to the pumpkin stems.
- 4Fill the lawn and grass tufts with grass green, the leaves with leaf green, and the scarecrow's jacket with grass green and fence posts with wood brown.
- 5Keep the sky background white. Color the lantern in slate gray, the candle flame cream, the open mouth coral pink and the scarecrow's hat dark brown.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of each color along one side of the pumpkins and hat to give them a bit of depth.
