Easy Geometric Sailboat with Sun and Gulls

Coloring guide
Three rows of scalloped waves hold up a little sailboat built entirely from simple shapes. The hull is a wide trapezoid, and a tall mast carries two triangle sails, a large one on the left and a narrower one on the right, with a small triangular flag at the top. A round sun hangs in the upper right corner, and three angular, bird-like shapes fly in the sky on the left and right. Bold outlines and big open spaces make it a good match for preschoolers and early elementary kids learning triangles, circles and trapezoids. A sunny yellow sun, red and white sails, and blue or teal waves with a different shade in each row would all look good. Download the free PDF and print a few spares. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the two big sails: fill the large left sail and the right sail with bright blue.
- 2Color the boat hull with coral red, leaving the sun and background white.
- 3Fill the top wave row and the three gulls with light aqua, then color the middle and bottom wave rows with ocean blue.
- 4Color the mast in warm brown and the flag at its top in coral red.
- 5Optional: add a few diagonal strokes in a slightly darker shade on the sails and hull for a pencil-style texture.
- 6Leave the sun outline and the background white so the colored shapes stand out.
