A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big areas: color the moon and lantern top in golden yellow, and fill the lantern center and sides with soft yellow, leaving the small handle white.
- 2Color the fairy's wings with sky blue and pale blue, leaving the little round dots on the wings white for highlights.
- 3Fill the fairy's skin and the owl's face and chest in peach, then add pale cream to the owl's eye disks, leaving the highlights white.
- 4Color the fairy's leaf dress and the leaves on the branch and trees with lime green, leaf green and grass green, mixing a few darker greens for depth.
- 5Add chocolate brown to the owl's wings, the tree trunk and branches, then use steel blue for the distant hill and emerald green and deep forest green for the river, bushes and forest at the bottom.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shade along one side of each leaf and the owl's wings for extra depth.
