Beach Day Family Building a Seashell Sandcastle

Coloring guide
Dad, mom, a little boy and a girl kneel in the sand around a tall sandcastle decorated with seashells, starfish and a tiny flag on the tallest tower. Dad digs with a shovel, mom holds a bucket and wears a wide-brimmed sun hat, the boy presses a shell onto the castle wall, and the ponytailed girl adds a starfish. Up front are a sand pail, a small rake, a castle mold and scattered shells. Waves roll in behind them, a sailboat floats offshore, palm trees stand on a small island, and gulls fly under a sunny sky with puffy clouds. A beach umbrella and a tote bag sit at the right edge. This free printable has lots of small shapes for careful coloring. Pale golden yellow for the castle and coral pink or orange for the starfish and shells will make them stand out against the sand. Add this to your Family coloring page collection, alongside For Girls and For Kids.
A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- light sand
- skin peach
- bright blue
- golden yellow
- hot pink
- grass green
- red
- coral orange
- ocean blue
- sandy beige
- chestnut brown
- bright yellow
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Leave the fluffy clouds, the sun's rays highlights, and the white parts of the swimsuit and sandcastle sparkles white, then fill the sea waves with bright blue and ocean blue, adding aqua and pale aqua near the shoreline.
- 2Color the whole beach and the sandcastle with light sand, and use sandy beige on the darker sand patches around the castle and the ground near the family.
- 3Fill the clothes: the man's shirt and sleeve in bright blue, his shorts in grass green, the boy's shirt in red, the woman's dress in hot pink, and the woman's beach bag and blue bucket in bright blue.
- 4Color the skin areas on faces, arms, and legs with skin peach, then add chestnut brown to the boy's and man's hair and auburn to the girl's ponytail.
- 5Add the hats and umbrella: golden yellow for the woman's sun hat, red and coral orange stripes on the umbrella, bright yellow on the sun and umbrella stripe, and amber on the umbrella handle. Color the green pail and the starfish last.
- 6Optional: add a little darker sandy beige shading along the castle walls and under the family members to make the sandcastle look more three-dimensional.
