Planting a Vegetable Garden as a Family
Coloring guide
On a sunny day, a mom, dad and little girl are busy in the vegetable patch. The girl wears overalls and has a ponytail, and she tips a watering can so water sprinkles onto a leafy plant. The dad crouches next to her and digs in the soil with a small trowel. Mom leans over them, smiling, with her hair in a bun. Up front there's a tomato plant tied to a stake, two carrots poking out of the ground, a round head of lettuce and a few daisy-like flowers. A wooden picket fence, leafy bushes, a tree and a wheelbarrow fill in behind. Red tomatoes, orange carrots and a few different greens for the lettuce and leaves would look great. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big areas: color the man's shirt and the woman's top in sky blue and lavender purple, leaving the highlights on the sleeves white.
- 2Color the grass and bushes in lime green and bright green, and fill the wheelbarrow and the fence with red and honey tan.
- 3Fill the people's jeans and overalls in denim blue, and color the hair in brown and caramel brown, with skin areas in peach.
- 4Paint the watering can golden yellow and the girl's shirt pink, then add the orange carrots and bright red tomatoes.
- 5Optional: Use a slightly darker shade of the grass color on the edges for depth, and leave the eye whites and the water spray white for a bright finish.
