Family Heading to Church on Good Friday
Coloring guide
A mother, a father and two young children stroll down a winding dirt path toward a small chapel with a cross on its steeple and a bell in the tower. Dad wears a big backpack and glances back with a smile. Mom, in a long skirt with a shoulder bag, looks warmly at the kids. The boy and girl each wear a little backpack and hold their parents' hands. Blossoming trees frame the page, two birds fly overhead, and flowers and grassy tufts line the path. It is a calm choice for a quiet Good Friday activity at home or in a classroom. Soft pink and white work for the blossoms, warm gray for the stone church, and sunny yellow for the centers of the little flowers by the trail. Get the free PDF for class time or a rainy day. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big areas: color the mother's top yellow, the father's jacket and the mother's long skirt royal blue, and the boy's hoodie red.
- 2Fill the trees and grass next: use leaf green and lime green for the grass and bushes, light green for the lower hedges, and brown for the tree trunks and branches.
- 3Color the church in cream for the walls and tower, red for the roofs, and deep green for the cypress trees and the bushes behind the church. Leave the church doorway cream.
- 4Add the backpacks and clothes: leaf green for the father's backpack, sky blue for the boy's backpack, purple for the girl's backpack, pink for the girl's skirt and sleeves, and caramel for the father's pants.
- 5Finish the people: use light peach for faces, hands and legs, brown for the father's and mother's hair, orange for the girl's hair, and dark brown for the father's shoes. Keep the blossoms and the sky white. Optional: add a little shading to the tree trunk and the dress folds to add depth.
