Tulip Flowers in a Round Vase on a Stool

This page shows five tulips with big, rounded petals growing out of a plump round vase. The center tulip is the tallest, and two more lean out on each side at different heights. Long, slender stems drop into the vase, and wide pointed leaves curve over the rim on both sides. A simple collar runs around the top of the vase, which sits on a small round stool with three splayed legs. With a plain white background, kids can keep their eyes on the flowers. Thick outlines and large shapes suit preschoolers and early elementary kids using crayons or chunky markers. Each tulip could get its own color, maybe red, pink, yellow, orange and purple, with bright green stems and leaves and whatever color the vase deserves. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the round vase and its top rim: fill them with sky blue, leaving the small gaps between the stems white.
- 2Color the stool top, its edge and the three legs with wood brown.
- 3Fill all the long leaves, including the tall center ones, with leaf green.
- 4Color the top tulip and its back petal tulip red, then fill the two pink tulips with soft pink.
- 5Use lemon yellow for the upper left tulip and tangerine orange for the two orange tulips on the right, and lavender purple for the purple tulips on the far left.
- 6Keep the background and the small white gaps near the stems and right leaf white. Optional: add a few darker strokes in the same color on the vase and leaves for depth.
