Standing in shallow water on one leg with the other tucked up, this flamingo stretches both wings wide, each one made of layered scalloped feathers. Its long S-shaped neck curves gracefully, and the head has a big curved beak, a round eye and a small tuft on top. Ripples circle the foot where it meets the water. In the distance there's a horizon line with a few puffy bushes or clouds, plus cattails on the left and tall blades of grass on the right. With so many big feather shapes, this free printable is good practice for careful coloring. Soft pinks and coral oranges look lovely on the wings, with a darker pink layered toward the tips. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the flamingo's body and long neck with soft pink, then use light pink on the lighter wing feathers near the body.
- 2Color the big spread wing feathers with coral pink, leaving the background between the legs white.
- 3Paint the long legs, knees and feet tangerine orange, and color the upper beak pale peach with the beak tip charcoal gray.
- 4Fill the water with sky blue, add ripples around the feet, and color the bushes and grass blades grass green.
- 5Color the cattail tops and stalks cattail brown, and leave the small highlights and background sky white.
- 6Optional: Add a slightly darker stripe of coral pink along the edges of the wing feathers for a little depth.
