One flamingo wades in shallow water, its long neck looped into a curve and its head bent so a big round eye looks down at the surface. The wing is drawn in layered, scalloped sections, and the thin legs have knobby knees with small ripples around them. A half sun sits on the horizon behind the bird, between two bushy shorelines, with palm trees on the left and right. The water below is full of curved ripple lines and shows the flamingo's upside-down reflection, with its body, wing and beak. Soft pink and coral suit the feathers, the beak can be yellow with a black tip, and a warm orange sun will make the reflection glow. This printable PDF is free, so grab a few extra copies. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the flamingo's body, neck and wing with flamingo pink, leaving the thin highlight along the neck white.
- 2Fill the setting sun behind the bird with sunny yellow, and the water area between the legs with sky blue.
- 3Color the palm leaves and bushes on both sides with leaf green, and the palm trunk bases with warm brown.
- 4Add the long legs and knee joints in salmon, and the beak in peach with the tip left as it is shown.
- 5Fill the reflection in the water: use soft lilac for the reflected body, flamingo pink for the reflected wing, and salmon for the reflected legs.
- 6Optional: Leave the eye white and the palm trunk stripes white, and add a little bubblegum pink to the reflected beak for a soft glow.
