Wings stretched wide, a fluffy little bat with big sparkly eyes, a round pig-like nose and a happy open-mouth smile swoops straight toward you. Curved stripe lines fill its two tall ears, and soft, feathery strokes draw the furry chest and tiny clawed feet. The night sky behind is packed with details: a cratered crescent moon in the top corner, lots of four- and eight-point stars, small round dots and puffy clouds. Swirly, curly clouds roll across the bottom of the page. Large wing panels and tiny star shapes mean kids can color big or small. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the bat's face and body with light tan, then add warm brown to the chest, arms and feet for a fluffy look.
- 2Fill the big wing membranes with lavender purple, leaving the thin wing lines white.
- 3Color the inside of the large ears and the little nose with soft pink, and add coral to the open mouth, leaving the eye whites and teeth white.
- 4Fill the clouds with pale blue and sky blue, and use steel blue on a few shaded swirls near the bottom.
- 5Finish by coloring the little stars golden yellow and leave the open sky background white.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of warm brown along the bat's fur edges for extra texture.
