A cheerful little volcano with big sparkly eyes and an open smile sits in the middle of the page, and thick foam bubbles out of the crater and drips down its sides. Round bubbles of different sizes float above it and dot the foamy puddle at its base. Next to it you'll see a tall bottle with a cap and a wide label, a spoon lying at the bottom left and a pair of safety goggles at the bottom right, all on a simple table line. Use it for a science day or a lesson on erupting experiments. The big open shapes are easy for small hands, and the bubbles give kids a chance to practice careful outlines. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the volcano cone with chocolate brown, and fill the smiling mouth with coral pink, leaving the two eye whites white.
- 2Fill the lava foam on top and the drips running down the sides with orange.
- 3Color the bottle body and its lower part with pale blue, the middle band and stripe with bright blue, and the cap and neck ring with deep blue and sky blue.
- 4Paint the goggles lens pale blue, the strap and buckle with deep blue and sky blue, and the spoon with sky blue.
- 5Fill the round bubbles with golden yellow, adding a few amber ones around the volcano and on the puddle.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of chocolate brown on the volcano and a little extra deep blue on the goggle strap for depth.
