Folded Mother's Day Card with Heart, Flowers and Butterfly

Here's a folded greeting card standing open on a wooden table, with its front waiting for color. A large blank heart takes the center, framed by daisy-style flowers and pointed leaves, and a smiling butterfly perches in the top right corner. Two big flowers sit at the top left and bottom corners, with small blossoms tucked in between. In front of the card on the table lie three crayons and a pair of scissors with looped handles. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start by coloring the card background sky blue, including the open space around the flowers and the heart, and leave the small white flowers white.
- 2Fill the big heart with bright red, keeping the edges neat with short strokes.
- 3Color the large flowers: soft purple for the top-left flower and the bottom-right flower, and hot pink for the bottom-left flower, leaving their centers for later.
- 4Color the butterfly: lemon yellow for the wings and head, hot pink for the spots, orange for the body, and golden yellow for the antenna ball.
- 5Add fresh green to the leaves, lemon yellow to the flower centers, and orange to the small flower in the middle, then color the table tan brown and the inside flap light pink.
- 6Optional: Add a little extra shading on the heart and card edges with a slightly darker shade of the same color for a more finished look.
