Fred Flintstone Reaching Out Beside a Stone Age Lamp

Fred Flintstone strides across the page with a frowning, determined face and one arm stretched straight out, his hand open with the thumb up. He wears his ragged animal-skin outfit with jagged edges and a few small spots, and he is barefoot. Behind him is a rustic lamp made from a gnarled, knobby branch, topped with a tall shade tied on with little loops of cord. A wide wooden plank runs across the background, and on the right a small stone-style table holds a rounded, bumpy object. Try giving Fred's outfit a spotted pattern in oranges and browns, then use grays and tans for the wood grain on the lamp base. It's a good page for talking about how people lit their homes long ago versus today. Print as many copies as you need for a group.
