This pirate captain has one hand on his hip and the other up in a big, friendly wave. His tall tricorn hat has a skull and crossbones on the front, with a bandana tied underneath and the knot trailing off to the side. A curly mustache, a rosy round nose and a wide smile keep him welcoming instead of scary. Below the hat you'll find a long buttoned coat with large cuffs, a ruffled cravat, a belt with a big square buckle, short pants and chunky boots. He's standing on a small patch of ground with a few tufts of grass. Outlines are bold and shapes are large, so younger kids can color this free printable without much trouble. Deep red or navy would suit the coat, with golden yellow for the buttons and buckle and a bright color on the bandana. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the face, hands and ears in peach skin, leaving the highlight on the cheek white.
- 2Fill the coat, sleeves and raised arm in denim blue, then the pants and belt area in warm brown.
- 3Color the boots and the bottom of the legs in dark brown, and the grass patches in grass green.
- 4Add the hat in navy blue, the band across the forehead in bright red, and the bandana in bright red too.
- 5Use golden yellow for the coat trim, lapels, and round buttons, and soft cream for the shirt and neck scarf.
- 6Optional: Finish with light gray for the hair and mustache, and coral pink for the open mouth, leaving the skull and crossbones white.
