Friendly Turtle and Crab Making Friends by the Sand Bucket

Leaning down toward a cheerful little crab on the sand, this smiling baby sea turtle looks ready to make a new friend. The turtle has a big round head with spotted markings, a patterned shell and spotted flippers. The crab waves both raised claws, with wide curious eyes and a big grin. Wavy lines behind them show ocean waves rolling up to the shore. In front you'll see a sand bucket, a small shovel, a scallop shell, a spiral shell and a round striped shell, with little dots scattered over the sand. Large, clear shapes make it a good pick for preschoolers and early elementary kids. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the turtle head, body and flippers light green, then add a few leaf green patches on the body for a spotty look.
- 2Fill the turtle shell with chocolate brown, and color its lower edge and belly with caramel tan and pale yellow.
- 3Color the sand bucket sky blue, with royal blue on the inside top, and paint the shovel bright red.
- 4Color the crab's body and legs coral orange, and its claws bright red, leaving the eye whites white.
- 5Fill the scallop shells with lavender purple, the swirly seashell with peach, and the small clam with golden orange.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading on the turtle shell and bucket edges to make them look rounder.
