This baby sea turtle is gliding along with a big open-mouth smile and wide, sparkly eyes, and its head is turned right toward you. The shell has large, simple panels that small hands can fill in easily, while the flippers carry spots and oval patterns for a bit more detail. Three little striped fish swim around it, and each one is smiling too. Bubbles float up the page, and wavy seaweed and a couple of small rocks sit along the bottom. Preschoolers and early elementary kids will find lots of big spaces here, plus a few smaller patterns to practice on. A bright green works nicely for the shell panels, with lighter lime on the head and flippers. Orange and yellow stripes will help the fish pop against the turtle. It's a free printable. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the big turtle shell plates in chocolate brown, and fill the shell rim edges with pale gold.
- 2Fill the turtle head, both flippers and the rest of the body with lime green.
- 3Add the spots on the head and flippers in forest green, using short, gentle strokes.
- 4Paint the three fish in orange, with their fins and tails in golden yellow and their stripes left cream white.
- 5Color the seaweed in forest green and the rocks in silver gray, with the dark gray ground shadow at the bottom.
- 6Optional: Add sky blue bubbles and a coral pink smile, leaving the eye whites and bubble shines white.
