Gecko Lounging on a Sunny Rock, Reptiles Coloring Page
Coloring guide
A cheerful little gecko with big round eyes and a wide, open-mouthed smile is perched on top of a large rounded rock, leaning on its front legs with its toes spread out. Its long tail wraps around the side of the rock, and a row of oval spots runs down its back and along the tail, giving kids small shapes to fill in. In the upper right corner, a bright sun shines with short rays. Along the bottom, two small cacti and some scattered pebbles sit on the ground around the rock. Bold, clean outlines and roomy spaces make this free printable a good choice for preschoolers and early elementary kids. Soft greens or teal could work for the gecko, yellow and orange for the sun, and warm tan or gray for the rock so the gecko stands out. This fits right in with our Reptiles coloring pages — see also Snake and Birds.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start by coloring the big rock in caramel brown, leaving a little space for the sandy ground.
- 2Fill the gecko's head, body, arms, and tail with lime green, then color the cactus in forest green.
- 3Color the sun's round center in light yellow and its rays in golden yellow.
- 4Use orange for the spots along the gecko's back and tail, and color the open mouth coral pink.
- 5Shade the small stones at the bottom and the pebbles on the sand in taupe, keeping the eye whites white.
- 6Optional: Add a slightly darker green along the gecko's belly and cactus edges for a bit of depth.
