Gingerbread House Beside a Decorated Christmas Tree
Coloring guide
A curly ribbon of smoke drifts up from the brick chimney of this gingerbread house. Its snowy icing-topped roof is dotted with round candies, and a big peppermint swirl sits under the peak with a heart on each side. The arched wooden door has a candy-cane frame, and the two cross-pane windows have icing on top and a row of little round buttons underneath. Next to the house is a tall Christmas tree with a star at the top, garlands, ball ornaments and small stars. Snowy mounds and bushes gather around the base. Big open areas and small details together suit beginners as well as kids who like patient coloring. Red and white stripes look right on the candy canes, and warm brown works for the walls. It's a free printable and an easy holiday activity at home or in class. If you enjoyed this Gingerbread House page, don't miss our Thanksgiving and New Year coloring pages.

- 2Fill the Christmas tree with bright green, and add the dark green shadows on the lower branches and the bushes and hedges on the sides.
- 3Color the star on top of the tree golden yellow, then add the red ornaments and the red hearts and peppermint swirl details on the house.
- 4Paint the window panes sky blue and the chimney bricks brick red, and color the tree garland band warm brown.
- 5Color the smoke from the chimney pale blue and the path gray, keeping the background white.
- 6Optional: Add a little extra darker brown on the shaded side of the roof and walls to make the gingerbread look more three-dimensional.
