Candy Garden Gingerbread House with Lollipops and a Stepping-Stone Path

Coloring guide
This frosted gingerbread cottage is the star of a candy garden scene. The roof is scalloped like cookie shingles, the chimney has swirled frosting, and a round peppermint window sits under the peak. A peppermint swirl decorates the arched front door, and an arched window stands on each side of it. Gumdrops, small peppermints and a heart are scattered across the walls, and a gumdrop-bordered stepping-stone path leads to the door. Around the house you'll spot big swirl lollipops tied with bows, candy canes, little pine trees, bushy shrubs and puffy clouds. Large shapes sit next to tiny patterns, so older kids can take their time. Try red and white stripes for the candy canes and peppermints, soft browns on the walls, and bright pinks, greens and yellows on the lollipops. Print it at home whenever a coloring break is needed. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the grass and bushes around the house: color them leaf green and grass green, and use forest green in the darkest shadows under the trees and bushes.
- 2Color the small cloud above the roof pale blue, and leave the big clouds and the frosting highlights white.
- 3Fill the house walls and the roof sides with caramel brown, and use chocolate brown and warm gray for the darker panels, the heart scroll and the wall decorations.
- 4Add the candy shingles on the roof in mixed colors: light green, tangerine orange, sky blue, golden yellow and candy red, leaving the snowy edges white.
- 5Color the lollipops with candy red, lime yellow, lavender purple and golden yellow swirls, and give the sticks and bows light colors. Use biscuit tan and pale butter for the stepping stones and path, then add golden yellow to the door trim. Optional: add a little darker shade under the stones and along the roof edge for depth.
