Giraffe Munching Tree Leaves, Advanced Designs Safari Page
Coloring guide
On this free printable, a young giraffe stretches its long spotted neck up to nibble leaves from a branch of a tall, flat-topped tree. It stands on slender legs and has a tufted tail, small horns, a big round eye and a happy little smile. Large rounded spots cover its body, and they're fun to fill in one at a time. Three puffy outlined clouds float behind it, and a few grass tufts sit at the bottom next to the tree trunk. Older kids get plenty of detail in the spots and leaves, while the open sky and thick outlines keep things manageable for younger artists. Golden yellow with chestnut brown spots suits the giraffe, with fresh greens for the canopy and soft light blue for the clouds. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the sky blue clouds: color the three clouds on the left and right, leaving the small white highlights untouched.
- 2Fill the giraffe's body, neck, legs and ears with golden yellow, keeping the white eye shine and the light spot near the mouth white.
- 3Color the big round patches on the giraffe with burnt orange, including the spots on the neck, back, and legs.
- 4Use dark brown for the hooves, tail tuft, and the mane along the back of the neck, then medium brown for the tree trunk and the small horns on top of the head.
- 5Finish the tree with bright green on the big leaves and forest green on the darker leaves near the mouth and top of the canopy; leave the open space in the tree white.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading on the hooves and the lower part of the trunk for depth.
