Picnic Under the Tree with True and the Rainbow Kingdom Friends
Coloring guide
On a checkered blanket, a little girl in a bow headband sits cross-legged with a triangle sandwich in her hands. A chubby whiskered cat munches its own sandwich beside her, and a round fluffy creature on the left nibbles a snack as well. Up front you'll see a teapot decorated with flowers, two cups, a plate of grapes, an apple, strawberries and a plate of stacked sandwiches. A woven picnic basket with a checkered cloth sits at the right edge. A big leafy tree arches overhead, with bushes and grass tufts behind. Lots of big, simple shapes make this easy for young colorers. Red and white squares on the blanket and bright red strawberries next to green grapes would look great. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the sky and background areas: leave the sky white and color the grass patches in grass green and leaf green.
- 2Color the big tree trunk and hair areas in warm brown, and the tree leaves in grass green and leaf green.
- 3Fill the girl's dress and sleeves in cornflower blue and sky blue, and color the cat and its tail in orange.
- 4Use skin tan for the girl's face, hands and legs, and add pink to her headband and hair bow.
- 5Color the picnic blanket squares in cream, light peach and coral pink, then add the teapot lid in bright blue and the basket cloth in sky blue.
- 6Finish with the fruit and sandwiches: pale blue grapes, lime yellow and red apples, and pale gray on the right cup. Optional: add a little khaki shading to the grass edges for depth.
