A tall giraffe leans its long neck over a rustic wooden fence to nibble a leaf held out by a smiling girl with a ponytail and a backpack. The giraffe has big eyelashes, two fuzzy-tipped horns, and a coat of large hexagon-shaped patches that are fun to color one by one. Further back, a stone gate with an iron door stands at the end of a winding path, and a small elephant and a lion peek out from the tops of the gate pillars. Leafy trees, bushes, grass tufts, and a few rocks fill the background. Golden yellow with warm brown patches suits the giraffe, and bright greens for the foliage make the animals and the girl stand out. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the giraffe: color its body and neck golden yellow, and fill the ear and head areas with the same shade, leaving the sky and background white.
- 2Use chocolate brown for the giraffe's spots, working from the neck down to the body, and tan brown for the wooden fence posts and rails.
- 3Color the girl's face and hands light peach, her shirt and backpack straps bubblegum pink and lavender purple, and her hair chocolate brown.
- 4Fill the grass, bushes and tree leaves with bright green, leaf green and lime green, mixing shades to give the garden some life.
- 5Optional: Add a little forest green to the darker bushes and tree shadows to add depth.
- 6Finish with the gate and path in cream and tan brown, and leave the sky and small highlights white for a bright finish.
