This happy cartoon snake pokes its head up over tall blades of grass. It has big shiny eyes, a wide smile and a little forked tongue sticking out. Its body curls in loose loops across the page, with large oval spots on top and simple horizontal stripes on the belly. A smiling butterfly with curly antennae flutters above it along a dotted flight path. Two daisy-style flowers sit on the left side and in the lower corner, ringed by pointed grass leaves. Outlines are bold and shapes are big, so this free printable is a good match for preschoolers and early elementary kids still working on pencil control. You could do the spots in deep green with a lighter lime belly, then give the flowers pink and yellow petals so they pop against the grass. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the snake's head and long body with lime green, leaving the eye shines and eye whites white.
- 2Fill the grass blades and leaves all around the snake with medium green.
- 3Paint the snake's belly stripes with cream yellow and add the round spots on the body in forest green.
- 4Color the flower petals in pink and the flower centers in golden yellow.
- 5Fill the butterfly's wings with lavender purple, its body with orange, its head with lemon yellow, and add pink and golden yellow spots on the wings; color the snake's tongue coral red.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of forest green on the grass and spots to create shading, and keep the background white.
