Clinging to the string of a large round balloon with one little foot, a smiling baby bat floats along with its wings stretched out wide on both sides. It has big round eyes, two pointy ears and a tiny fang. The balloon has a shiny highlight curve that looks great left white. Fluffy fur is drawn on the chest, and the scalloped wings have clear sections that are easy for small hands to fill in. Three puffy clouds and four little stars are scattered around in the sky. This free printable is made for preschoolers and early elementary kids, and it's a nice fit for a Halloween-week activity or a quiet afternoon. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the sky: fill the three clouds with sky blue, leaving the gaps between them white.
- 2Fill the bat's head, body, arms, and both wings with soft purple, leaving the balloon white.
- 3Color the bat's chest fur with pale lilac, then fill the balloon string and the bat's paw with soft purple.
- 4Add light pink to the inside of both ears and the bat's nose, and fill the open mouth with coral, keeping the fangs white.
- 5Color the balloon knot bright red and the three stars and the right star golden yellow, keeping the balloon shine white.
- 6Optional: add a slightly darker purple along the edges of the wings to give them a bit of depth.
