Schoolboy With Backpack Reaching for Falling Leaves

A smiling schoolboy with tousled hair walks through a swirl of falling leaves, one arm raised toward a leaf in the air and the other stretched out behind him. He wears a buttoned jacket with a collar, a round badge on the chest, loose pants, and sturdy shoes, and a backpack with a front pocket and strap sits on his back. Pointy maple leaves and rounded heart-shaped leaves fill the space around him, and a few leafy sprigs lie on the ground by his feet. Since this page is filed under Thanksgiving, it works well for an autumn table activity. Try coloring the maple leaves in a mix of reds, oranges, and yellows, then ask kids to name the colors they see outside this time of year. The large open shapes are easy for small hands, and the printable page also gives older kids room to add shading on the hair and jacket.
