Here's a crab perched on a big rock by the sea, strumming a small ukulele with its mouth wide open like it's singing along. Three music notes drift above its head, and the big round eyes on stalks have raised eyebrows. One claw holds the neck of the ukulele while the other sits near the strings. Wavy lines behind the rock are the water, and a few small stones rest along the bottom edge. Thick outlines and roomy shapes keep it friendly for preschoolers and early elementary kids with crayons or markers. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the crab's round body, both big claws, the arms and the eye stalks with coral red, leaving the eye whites and the eye shine white.
- 2Fill the legs with crimson red for the back ones and tomato red for the front ones, then color the small underside shadow with brick red.
- 3Paint the sea waves on the left and the water behind the legs with sky blue, and the deeper water spots with ocean blue.
- 4Color the guitar body golden yellow, the guitar neck caramel brown, and the bottom end of the guitar chocolate brown.
- 5Color the rock and its small stones light gray, then add the music notes in bright yellow, lime green and violet purple.
- 6Finish the open mouth with black and the tongue with rose pink. Optional: add a little darker shading on the legs and rock edges to give them more depth.
