Kitten Under a Beach Umbrella with a Volleyball-Style Ball

A smiling kitten sits on the sand with one paw on a big striped beach ball that looks a lot like a volleyball. A large beach umbrella shades it, and the kitten's striped tail curls up behind the pole. Wavy ocean lines run across the back. Also in the sand are a bucket with a handle, a small shovel, a starfish and a scallop shell. The kitten has big sparkly eyes, whiskers, pointy ears and little stripes on its forehead, which gives careful crayons something to do. Younger kids can take on the large open areas of the ball and umbrella, while the shells and sand dots challenge older ones. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big sky-free areas: color the sea and waves in deep blue and light sky blue, leaving the sea foam lines white.
- 2Fill the cat's head, body and paws with tangerine orange, then add the darker burnt orange stripes on the forehead and tail, and cream white on the paw and tail tip.
- 3Color the umbrella panels alternating between bright yellow and tomato red, keeping the pole in caramel brown.
- 4Paint the beach ball with tomato red, bright yellow, ocean blue, and grass green stripes, then color the bucket in royal blue and deep blue with light green band and bright yellow shovel.
- 5Add soft pink to the inner ears, salmon pink to the tongue, and bright orange to the starfish, then color the sand pale yellow and the seashells soft pink.
- 6Optional: Leave the eye whites, eye shines and cheek highlights white so the face looks bright and lively.
