On a grassy hill, a smiling little leaf-covered creature looks up at a big rainbow with its mouth open in delight. Leaves sprout from its head, two large veiny leaves sit on its back, and its curly tail finishes in a tiny sprout. Raindrops fall around it, a cloud sits at each end of the rainbow, and a few puddles dot the ground. Spotted mushrooms and grass tufts fill the corners. Small hands can handle the wide rainbow bands and big leaves, while older kids can work on the mushroom caps and puddles. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the rainbow: color the top arc tomato red, the next band golden yellow, then grass green, and the inner band bright blue.
- 2Fill the clouds on both sides and the two puddles at the bottom with light blue, leaving the small raindrops for later.
- 3Color the creature's whole body and both legs lime green, then the tail in the same shade.
- 4Paint the big leaves and the leafy top of the head with forest green, plus the small leaf at the tail tip.
- 5Add the mushrooms: tomato red caps with cream stems, and the mouth in rose pink with a tongue in tomato red. Leave the eye whites and eye shine white.
- 6Finish the raindrops in bright blue, pale sky blue, or light blue, and the grass tufts in grass green. Optional: add a slightly darker edge to the leaves for depth.
