A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the bowl: fill the bowl body, rim and sides with pale sky blue, then color the wide stripe across the middle and the foot with cornflower blue.
- 2Color both mandarins and their shared plate area with tangerine orange, leaving the plate rim and bottom white.
- 3Fill the noodles, the three steam wisps and the fish cake slices with cream, adding pale butter yellow to a few noodle strands near the top.
- 4Color the table planks with caramel brown and the chopsticks with chestnut brown, using light tan for a small wood piece and the tips.
- 5Add leaf green to the mandarin leaves and the green onion bits, then use golden yellow for the little garnish slices on the noodles.
- 6Color the cheeks rose pink and the open smile coral red, and leave the eye shine spots white. Optional: add a little darker blue along the bowl edges for depth.
