Baby Penguin Ice Skating Past an Igloo

A happy baby penguin skates along on one foot, the other lifted behind it and both flippers held out wide. Its eyes are big and sparkly, its cheeks are round and rosy, and there's a small open beak and a tuft of feathers on top of its head. A long fringed, striped scarf is wrapped around its neck, and both feet are in lace-up skates. Behind the skater sits a little igloo drawn with block lines, along with rolling snowy hills and curved lines for the ice. Shapes are large and lines are clean, so this free printable is a good match for preschoolers and early elementary kids still building pencil control. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big background: color the two hills and the ice ground in pale blue, leaving the ice shine white.
- 2Fill the igloo with ice blue on its dome and sides, then use sky blue for the dark entrance arch and pale blue for the door frame.
- 3Color the penguin's head and back, the wing shapes, and the lower body in charcoal gray, keeping the face and belly white.
- 4Add the scarf: paint the red stripes in bright red and the end tips in coral, leaving the white stripes white.
- 5Use rose pink for the cheeks and tongue, golden yellow for the beak, and sky blue for the ankle bands on the skates.
- 6Optional: Finish the skate blades and boots with pale blue and add a little extra gray shading along the penguin's edges for depth.
