Meadow Romp for a Puppy and Four Butterflies
Coloring guide
A fluffy, floppy-eared puppy bounds across a meadow with a big open-mouth smile and its tongue sticking out. Its front paws reach forward while the tail swishes up behind. Tall tulips and lots of daisy-style flowers fill the foreground, so there are plenty of petals and leaves for little hands to color. Three butterflies flutter near the puppy and a fourth sits far off. Rolling hills, bushes, a few tall trees, puffy clouds and a bright sun with rays fill the background. The page has some big open areas and some finer details, so it suits a range of kids. Golden yellow and warm tan look good on the fur, and pink and purple tulips will make the dog stand out. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Begin with the puppy: fill the head, ears, body, and paws with apricot orange, leaving the daisies and clouds white.
- 2Color the tail and the front paws in the same apricot orange, then add the pale pink tongue inside the open mouth.
- 3Fill the hills, grass, and bushes with meadow green and leaf green, using deep green for the darker bushes at the top left and right.
- 4Paint the tulips in coral red, and use lime green for the grass tufts between the flowers.
- 5Color the butterfly wings and the center of the yellow daisy in golden yellow, and add sky blue to the small blue flowers.
- 6Optional: Leave the daisy petals, clouds, and sky white for a crisp look, and add a little teal green to a few flowers for variety.
