This crab is clearly having a great day. Both big claws wave high overhead and his mouth is wide open in a grin. The round body sits in the middle of the page with two tall eye stalks and big round eyes on top. He has four jointed legs on each side, resting on a small patch of sand scattered with pebbles and little ovals. Each claw has a zigzag crack line along the pincer, a nice small detail to color. Thick lines and large shapes make this free printable a good pick for preschoolers and early elementary kids still working on pencil control. Orange-red looks great on the shell and claws, with tan or golden yellow sand and soft gray and blue pebbles. It works for a beach day, an ocean unit, or a quiet afternoon at the table. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the sand patch at the bottom with light yellow, working around the rocks and pebbles.
- 2Fill the crab's round body, both big claws, and the wrists with coral, keeping the background white.
- 3Color the arms and all the legs with bright orange, so they stand out against the coral body.
- 4Fill the open mouth with deep red and add a soft pink tongue at the bottom of the mouth.
- 5Color the two large rocks and the small pebble on the sand with medium gray.
- 6Optional: add a few lighter strokes or gentle shading on the claws and body to make them look rounder, and leave the eye whites white for a sparkly look.
