Standing on top of a little round submarine, a cheerful hedgehog in a hard hat tightens a bolt on the hatch with a big wrench. He has a big smile, a spiky coat of quills and a tool belt holding a screwdriver and small wrenches. The submarine comes with a large porthole window, rows of rivets, a periscope pipe and a propeller at the back. A screwdriver, a hammer and two more wrenches float around him along with plenty of round bubbles, and seaweed and a few rocks line the bottom edge. Big shapes and clear outlines make this free printable easy for younger kids, while the quills and rivets keep older kids busy. A sunny yellow hard hat and a bright red or teal submarine will make the hedgehog pop, and browns and tans would suit the quills. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the submarine body: color the big hull areas golden yellow, leaving the round porthole glass and the rivet dots white.
- 2Fill the porthole glass and the frame around it with sky blue, and color the periscope lens sky blue too.
- 3Color the hedgehog's face and arms light peach, then use chestnut brown for the spiky fur on its back and head and warm tan for the lower body.
- 4Add the bright red propeller blades, the red hatch on top, and the bright red screwdriver, then color the orange end cap and tool belt orange.
- 5Color the hammer, wrenches, periscope pipe, and rocks light gray, and paint the hammer handle and seaweed leaf green or deep blue as shown.
- 6Optional: Leave the eye shines, the mouth highlight, and the seaweed highlights white, and add a little soft pink to the hedgehog's ear for a finishing touch.
