Coloring guide
Mid-jig, this leprechaun has one knee kicked high, a fist in the air and a big open-mouthed grin under his curly beard. His tall hat carries a buckle and a shamrock on the side, and he also wears a bow tie, buttoned vest, jacket with rolled cuffs, belt, striped socks and chunky buckled shoes. A big rainbow with several bands curves over his head and lands in a puffy cloud on each side. He dances on a grassy hill with tufts of grass and two little shamrock plants in the corners. Large shapes and clean lines keep it easy for young colorers. Green for the hat and jacket works nicely, and the rainbow can use every color in your box. Free to print for a party or classroom table. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the rainbow arcs from the outside in: bright red first, then tangerine, golden yellow, kelly green, and sky blue on the innermost arc. Leave the clouds white.
- 2Fill the leprechaun's face, hands, and ears with pale peach, and color the big bushy beard burnt orange, with apricot on the right ear. Keep the eye whites and teeth white.
- 3Color the coat, trousers, and hat crown kelly green, with forest green on the lower coat tail and vest. Use dark pine green for the hat band buckle area and kelly green for the bow tie and collar.
- 4Color the shoes and belt charcoal black, the boot buckles dark gray, and the socks with stripes of leaf green and pale gray. Keep the shirt front white.
- 5Fill the shamrocks on the hat and on the grass with leaf green, then add the vest buttons in forest green. Optional: add a darker green shadow along the coat folds for depth.
