Kansas State Flag With Sunflower and Seal
Coloring guide
A rectangular Kansas flag outline holds a round state seal in the middle, with a sunflower sitting on top of a twisted bar above it. Inside the seal, a banner reads AD ASTRA PER ASPERA under an arc of small stars. Below that you can see a rising sun behind hills, a steamboat on a river, a log building, a line of covered wagons, a group of buffalo, and a farmer walking behind two horses pulling a plow. The word KANSAS is written across the bottom in big outlined block letters that are easy to color in. Kids could color the sunflower yellow with a brown center, then pick out small details like the wagons and horses with sharpened pencils. It also works well for a geography lesson: have students find the stars and count them, then talk about what the farm, river, and wagons say about Kansas history. This free printable suits a range of ages.
