Kimono Shoppies Doll with Sushi Headband

Facing forward with her arms held slightly out, this big-eyed doll wears a kimono-style outfit with a wide, layered obi sash at the waist. The sleeves are wide and bell-shaped, decorated with swirly cloud-like patterns. Her short skirt has rows of scalloped, petal-like layers, and the chunky shoes have crisscross straps with a bumpy textured trim. Long straight hair with side-swept bangs falls past her shoulders. Her headband is topped with little sushi rolls, a swirl piece and a pair of chopsticks tucked in beside a flower-like bun. With a blank background, she's easy to color without distractions. Soft pinks and creams could go on the kimono, with a bold red or purple obi and bright greens and oranges on the sushi. Those big sleeve swirls are a nice spot for gentle blue or gold details. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the skin: fill the face, arms, hands, and legs in light peach, leaving the big eye whites, the small nose line, and the smile area white.
- 2Color the hair in lemon yellow, using golden yellow for the lower side strands, and add the hair flower in leaf green.
- 3Fill the kimono sleeves, front panels, and skirt in rose pink, keeping the lace collar and chest lace white.
- 4Color the sash with sky blue on the top and bottom bands, add lemon yellow in the middle, and paint the sushi headband in teal with rose pink sushi rolls.
- 5Use blush pink for the sleeve cuffs and swirl patterns, and salmon pink for the shoe straps. Use crimson for the small scalloped trim on the skirt.
- 6Optional: add a little darker shade of the same colors along the folds of the sleeves and skirt for extra depth.
