Big Maple Leaf With Veins for Fall Coloring

Coloring guide
One large maple leaf takes up the whole page. It has pointed lobes, a short curved stem at the bottom and a bold vein running up the middle. Thinner veins branch off to both sides, which gives little hands lots of small sections to fill in. The wide outline and open spaces keep things frustration-free for preschoolers and kindergarteners, and older kids can shade along each vein. It works for a classroom table or a rainy afternoon at home, and all you need is crayons. For an autumn maple look, go with warm red and orange and a brown stem. Or blend yellow into orange from the center outward for a sunset effect. More like this: explore the Fall, Thanksgiving and Summer coloring page collections.

- orange
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Pick an orange crayon or marker and fill the whole maple leaf shape, from the top point down to the stem.
- 2Color the leaf stem with the same orange so the whole leaf looks like one piece.
- 3Keep the thin black veins as they are; go around them carefully so the lines stay sharp.
- 4Optional: Add light back-and-forth strokes in a slightly darker orange to give the leaf a textured, autumn feel.
- 5Leave the background around the leaf white to make the orange leaf stand out.
