Leaping Sheep Surrounded by Butterflies and Tulips

Ears flopping and eyes sparkling, this smiling little lamb bounces through the air with fluffy curls and a round woolly tail drawn in soft, bumpy lines. Three patterned butterflies flutter nearby, one at the upper left and two on the right. Down at the bottom, a garden of tulips and daisy-style flowers with long pointed leaves fills the page. Wide petals and big wool sections are easy for small hands, and the butterfly wings and flower centers leave room for detail work from older kids. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big sheep body, back tuft and top of the head in cream, leaving the eyes and nose details for later.
- 2Color the sheep's face, ears and front legs in peach, then fill the inner ears with blush pink.
- 3Add chocolate brown to the four little hooves at the bottom of the sheep's legs.
- 4Fill the tulip petals with tomato red, the middle tulip with golden yellow and its top petal with orange.
- 5Color the leaves and grass with light green and grass green, and the butterflies with sky blue, rose pink, orange and golden yellow wings.
- 6Leave the daisy petals white, then add golden yellow centers to the daisies. Optional: add a little darker shading under the sheep and inside the tulips for depth.
