Lion on a Rock Before the Sun, Color by Number (Adult)
Coloring guide
Sitting upright on a flat, cracked rock, a cheerful young lion tilts his head slightly, with big round eyes and an open-mouthed smile. A large round sun with horizontal stripes fills the sky behind him, and his full, swirling mane overlaps its edge. His tail curls up on the left and ends in a leafy tuft. Further back there are rolling hills, a flat-topped acacia tree on the right and small clumps of grass around the rock. The mane, chest and legs are split into many small sections, so it's a good fit for kids who like detail, or as a free printable to color alongside them. Golden yellow and warm orange suit the lion, with deeper brown for the mane and a sunset red-orange for the striped sun. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the wavy stripes of the big circle behind the lion with sky blue, leaving the white gaps between the stripes.
- 2Color the rolling hills and open grass with light green, then add grass green to the grass tufts and the acacia tree top.
- 3Color the lion's face, body, legs and tail with golden yellow, and use pale gold on the chest area for a soft glow.
- 4Fill the thick mane with chestnut brown, adding burnt orange to a few strands on the upper sides for depth.
- 5Color the rock with stone gray, the paws and muzzle with cream, and the ears and open mouth with coral pink.
- 6Optional: Add a warm orange touch to the lion's side and a darker shade under the mane for extra depth; keep the eye whites, nose highlights and background gaps white.
