Floating in space in a round bubble helmet, a smiling kitten reaches one paw toward a tiny rocket that has a happy face peeking out of its window. The kitten has a chunky spacesuit with big circle buttons on the chest, jointed elbows and knees, and a long striped tail curling behind. It also has whiskers, pointed ears and big sparkly eyes. Nearby are a crescent moon with crater dots, a ringed planet and lots of stars in assorted sizes, and the rocket has small fins and a flame at the bottom. It's filed under Doraemon, but this is an original cartoon cat, not Doraemon himself. Thick outlines and large open areas work well for young kids with crayons or chunky markers. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big blue helmet glass: color the dome and sides of the helmet in pale blue, and leave the small curved shine near the top white.
- 2Fill the cat's head and tail in warm orange, then add light pink inside the ears and a coral pink mouth.
- 3Color the astronaut's gloves, feet, headphones and the knee pads in sky blue, and use lemon yellow for the round chest button and the headphone centers.
- 4Color the planet in deep purple and soft purple stripes, add a lemon yellow ring on the left and right sides, and keep the middle of the ring white.
- 5Color the rocket's nose and fins in bright red, the flames in deep orange and lemon yellow, and add a royal blue stripe near the bottom. Leave the suit, rocket window and cat's eye whites white.
- 6Finish with the moon in lemon yellow with golden yellow craters, and color the stars lemon yellow. Optional: add a little extra shading on the tail and the helmet edges.
