Little Witch with Broom Heading Out to Trick-or-Treat

Her outfit includes a tall pointed hat with a big square buckle, a puff-sleeved dress with a collar, a bow at the waist and a scalloped skirt, along with striped stockings and buckled shoes. A large crescent moon floats behind the hat in the upper right. Bold, clean outlines and roomy shapes keep this free printable easy for young kids. Purple or deep blue would suit the hat and dress, the pail can be orange with its grinning face, and the moon can be yellow. The striped stockings are a nice way to practice alternating colors, and the broom bristles look good shaded golden brown. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big purple areas: color the witch hat, the dress and the shoes in violet purple, leaving the sleeve cuff lines white.
- 2Fill the face, ears, arms and hands with skin peach, keeping the eye whites and the little tooth highlights white.
- 3Color the hair in chestnut brown and the broom handle in the same brown, then add the broom bristles in pale yellow.
- 4Paint the pumpkin bucket in bright orange with a burnt red rim, and color the hat band and buckle in orange and rust orange.
- 5Finish with the golden yellow bow, the light orange collar and stockings, the rose pink open mouth and the near black pumpkin face. Optional: add a little darker shading under the hat brim and along the dress folds for depth.
