Farmer and Sailor Seal on the Maine State Flag

A rectangular flag outline holds the Maine state seal in the center, with plenty of blank space around it. A farmer in a brimmed hat stands on the left holding a scythe, while a sailor in a hat stands on the right leaning on an anchor with a coil of rope beside him. Between them is a shield showing a tall pine tree above a resting moose and some water. A banner reading DIRIGO sits on top, with a small star surrounded by rays above it, and a ribbon with the word MAINE curls along the bottom. Try coloring the flag background a deep blue, then use greens for the pine tree and browns for the moose. It also works well for a classroom lesson on state symbols and what each part of the seal stands for.
