Mama Bat and Her Baby Flying Together
Coloring guide
Mama bat is soaring through the sky with her tiny baby tucked against her chest. The little one waves a small hand and grins right back at you. Mama has big round sparkly eyes, long lashes, a little pink-style nose, fluffy cheek fur and two tall pointed ears with simple inner lines. Her wide wings stretch out on both sides, and the baby has its own small wing and pointy ear. Three puffy outlined clouds float behind them. Bold, clean lines and roomy wing sections keep this easy for preschoolers and early elementary kids. Soft purples or warm browns work for the bats, and pale blue for the clouds. A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- soft lavender
- warm brown
- sky blue
- pale beige
- coral pink
- caramel tan
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big wings: color both bat wings and the wing parts near the baby in soft lavender, leaving thin white edges along the outlines.
- 2Color the two clouds at the bottom in sky blue, and leave the top cloud and background white.
- 3Fill the mama bat's face, ears, and arm in warm brown, then add the pale beige belly and the baby bat's body in warm brown and caramel tan.
- 4Color the inner parts of both ears, the mama bat's nose, and the baby bat's inner ear in coral pink.
- 5Keep the eye whites and small shine spots white, then add dark pupils and eye details with a black or dark marker.
- 6Optional: Add a few light strokes of darker brown on the face and wings to give a little shading.
