Mama Bear Cuddling Her Cub for Mother's Day
Coloring guide
Leaning back against a tree trunk, a big mama bear wraps her arms around a little cub. The cub snuggles into her chest and looks up with a happy smile. Mama has long lashes, round ears and a gentle grin, while the cub has small round ears and tiny paws pressed against her. Overhead, leaves drift down from scalloped branches, and a few more rest up on the branches. Near the roots in the corner you'll find a small cluster of flowers and some tufts of grass. Small hands can handle the large open shapes of the fur, and the leaves and flowers give older kids more detail to work on. Golden browns suit the bears, with orange, red and yellow for the falling leaves. Save this free PDF and print a few extra copies, since there's room to try different colors. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the leaves: color the tree canopy, the scattered floating leaves, and the grass and stems at the bottom left in leaf green.
- 2Fill the mama bear's large body, arms, and the tree branches with chestnut brown.
- 3Color the baby bear's body and the lower part of the mama bear's belly in honey orange, then use light tan for the mama bear's muzzle, the baby bear's face, paws, and feet.
- 4Add peach pink to the inside of both bears' ears.
- 5Leave the eye whites and the flower petals white, and fill the flower centers last with a light touch.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker brown along the edges of the mama bear and a touch of extra green on the leaves for depth.
