On a curved branch sits one big chameleon with a round, curious eye and a gentle smile, and two smaller chameleons are perched right beside her. All three have tightly curled spiral tails and wavy stripes across their bodies. The tallest has a ridged crest on her head and back, and the babies gaze up with big, shiny eyes. Large leaves with center veins frame the scene on the left, on the right and below the branch. Open shapes are easy for little hands, and the stripes and tail spirals give older kids more to work on. Greens and yellows could go on the big chameleon, and each baby can get its own color, like turquoise and orange, so they're easy to tell apart. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the big mama chameleon's head and body with lime green, leaving the eye whites and the little spikes along her back white.
- 2Fill the three leaves and the leaves on the right with leaf green, and color the thin branch with warm brown.
- 3Paint the baby chameleons: the middle one sky blue with royal blue stripes, and the small one on the right tangerine orange with coral red stripes.
- 4Color the mama's tail bands alternately with teal and amber, and fill the spiral tail with sea green, emerald green and golden yellow bands.
- 5Optional: Add a few darker stripes or shadows on the bands and tail with a slightly deeper shade of the same color for extra depth.
