Mama Panda Cuddling Her Cub by the Bamboo
Coloring guide
A big, smiling mama panda sits on the ground with a tiny cub snuggled against her belly. The cub hugs her arm with one little paw, looks out with sparkly eyes and an open-mouthed smile, and shows off round feet with paw pads at the bottom. Tall bamboo stalks with long pointed leaves rise on both sides, and a few rocks and grass tufts sit at the base. Large round ears, eye patches and paw pads make easy shapes for small hands. Black works nicely on the ears, eye patches and arms, with fresh greens for the bamboo leaves and soft grays for the rocks. Grab the free PDF and print a few extra copies while you're at it. This fits right in with our Panda coloring pages — see also Bee and Wolves.
A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- charcoal gray
- yellow green
- leaf green
- baby pink
- black
- medium gray
- light gray
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the bamboo stalks and their leaves with yellow green, then add leaf green to the darker leaves and the two bushes at the sides.
- 2Fill the mama panda's body, arms, legs, ears and the cub's head top and ears with charcoal gray, keeping the face, belly and background white.
- 3Color the mama panda's thigh and the cub's right foot with medium gray and light gray, so they stand out a little from the charcoal gray.
- 4Add baby pink to the inner ears, the paw pads and the toe pads on both of the mama panda's feet and on the cub's feet.
- 5Finish with black for the nose, and leave the eye whites, the cub's face and the background white so the drawing feels bright.
- 6Optional: add light diagonal strokes of medium gray over the charcoal gray body to give it a soft, textured look.
